Gloucester get back on track with good win over WaspsJonny May and Olly Morgan both scored two tries as Gloucester produced a stunning performance to demolish Wasps at Kingsholm. The home side thrilled a packed stadium as Wasps has no answers to the power of the Gloucester pack and the potency of their backs. From the kick-off Wasps were fortunate not to pick up an immediate yellow card when Richard Birkett took out a Gloucester forward when in the air, but the flanker escaped with only a penalty against him and a warning. The hosts had the better of early play and deservedly took a sixth-minute lead. Gloucester won a line-out on the Wasps 22 to produce a stunning forward drive, which culminated in a try from Luke Narraway which Freddie Burns converted. Back came Wasps when a poor pass from Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu was picked up by Elliot Daly. who raced away, A better pass from the centre would have seen a Wasps try but the ball did not go to hand.Gloucester were penalised but Nicky Robinson spurned the chance, missing with a 35-metre kick. The visitors were made to pay for their missed opportunities when after 14 minutes Gloucester scored their second try. Burns made an initial breach of the Wasps defence before clever inter-passing saw May pick up the try. Burns converted.Wasps responded with their first try when following powerful drives from Joe Burton and Rob Webber, Daly was given enough space to force his way over for a try which Robinson converted.Daly then failed with an optimistic 70-metre penalty attempt before an excellent touchfinder from Burns gained Gloucester a position in the visitors' 22. Wasps lost possession and slick passing saw a determined May score his second try.Wasps were then unlucky not to score their second try as Richard Haughton was denied by a last-ditch tap tackle from Burns, but the visitors did reduce the arrears with a penalty from Robinson to leave Gloucester 19-10 ahead at the interval.Early in the second half Ed O'Donoghue was adjudged to be offside at a ruck and Burns made no mistake with his penalty kick to extend Gloucester's advantage, and worse was to follow for the visitors with the award of the hosts' fourth try.Firstly Wasps lost possession in their own 22 for Henry Trinder to kick ahead. Joe Simpson appeared to have minored the ball but the TMO awarded a try to Trinder who had followed up his own kick ahead.Wasps were demoralised by the decision and conceded two tries to Morgan in three minutes, one of which Burns converted to leave Wasps 39-10 adrift with still a quarter of the match to go.The usual plethora of substitutions reduced Gloucester's momentum to prevent an even heavier defeat for Wasps, who were fortunate not to concede a seventh try when a dithering Haughton just managed to minor ahead of the onrushing Charlie Sharples.
