Highlanders to play Racing 92 in Hong Kong

The Highlanders will play their first match in Hong Kong next year

2015 Super Rugby champions the Highlanders will play a one off pre-season match against Dan Carter’s French club Racing 92 in Hong Kong.

The “unique” north against south fixture will be played in February ahead of the Highlanders Super Rugby title defence.

Rugby World Player of the year Dan Carter is expected to feature in the match which will be the Highlanders first ever match in Asia.

Racing 92 will be playing in Hong Kong for the third time in three seasons so they will be more familiar with playing in Asia.

“We are excited to be meeting Super Rugby champions Highlanders and are confident that rugby and sporting fans worldwide will be riveted by this unique north-south match-up,” Racing CEO Arnaud Tourtoulou said in a statement.

If Carter plays he will most likely go up against his former All Blacks team-mates scrum-half Aaron Smith and Ben Smith in the fixture.
