Rebels v Brumbies Super Rugby Preview

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Melbourne Rebels and the Brumbies the Canberra based Brumbies have four matches and the Rebels one. 

Rebels fans will no doubt remember that the Melbourne side’s first ever Super Rugby victory was in their second match and they beat the Brumbies 25-24.

The Rebels have played the Brumbies 8 times since they joined Super Rugby in 2011 and they have beaten the Brumbies twice.

That gives the Rebels a record of winning 25% of their Super Rugby matches against the Brumbies. The average score when the Rebels play the Brumbies is : Rebels 17 Brumbies 31.

This weekend the Rebels will have home advantage as the match will be played in Melbourne where the teams have met four times.

In those four matches the Rebels have won two and lost two giving them a 50/50 record against the Brumbies at home. The average score when these teams play in Melbourne is : Rebels 22 Brumbies 26.

In terms of selection the Rebels have made one change to the team that lost last week to the Waratahs with Nic Stirzaker returning from suspension.

The Brumbies have brought Stephen Moore back and he will make his first start since June last year. Jesse Mogg also returns on the replacements bench and outside of these the team is almost unchanged.

The Brumbies opened their season with a 47-3 victory over the Reds and pushed the Chiefs in New Zealand last week right to the death – they only lost thanks to a late penalty.

The Rebels made history in their opening match by beating the Crusaders but then last week they lost to the Waratahs so they have had mixed results.

The Bookies have given the a Rebels a 7 point start for this Match – with an offer of a FREE $150 BET. The Rebels are always stronger at home but the Brumbies look very good this season and they lead the Australian Conference. The Brumbies should edge the Rebels by 4.
