Rebels lose Shipperley for up to six weeks

The Rebels will be without winger Dom Shipperley until at least the eleventh round in Super Rugby after he fractured his hand playing against the Lions.

Rebeles winger Shipperley suffered the injury in the Rebels 20-16 loss to the Lions at AAMI Park on Friday and will be sidelined for an estimated 4-6 weeks.

Shipperley, who was making his 50th Super Rugby appearance, has started all five games for the Rebels this season since moving to Melbourne, however he will now be ruled out until at least Round Eleven after undergoing surgery.

In better news for the Rebels, playmaker Jack Debreczeni is available for selection this week as the Club travel to Wellington to face the Hurricanes on Friday night, after missing the last game with a minor knee complaint, leaving Shipperley as the lone player on the Injury Report.

A number of Rebels played their first competitive match of 2015 on the weekend with the Direct Connect Dewar Shield kicking off, including Tom Kingston, who played 40 minutes for Power House after completing his rehabilitation from patella tendinopathy.
