Ndungane and Gerber doubtful for Bulls Currie Cup clash

Sprinbok and Blue Bulls winger Akona Ndungane, as well as tighthead prop Rayno Gerber, suffered injuries against the Griquas in Kimberley on Friday and there is a chance that they might not recover in time for the Bulls’ next Absa Currie cup rugby fixture against the Valke at Loftus on Friday.

Dr Org Strauss confirmed over the weekend Ndungane injured his groin and Gerber suffered an achilles injury.

“At this stage these are the only injuries following the Griquas match and a full assessment of Akona and Rayno’s injuries will be made later on Monday, but I assume they will be out for at least one week.”

John Mametsa and Rocco Jansen are the other players in the Bulls’ Currie Cup group who can play on the wing, while Werner Kruger and Ruan Vermeulen can fill Gerber’s shoes at tighthead.
