Hurricanes beat Brumbies in Wellington

Out of the last six Super Rugby matches between the Wellington based Hurricanes
and the Canberra based Brumbies the Canberra side have won four and the Hurricanes

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Brumbies kick off and we are underway. The Hurricanes take the ball straight into touch.

1.00: The Brumbies win the line out. They get pressed back initially and then press forward into the Hurricanes 22.

2.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes in thier 22 for not releasing the ball. Barrett kicks for touch.

4.00: The Hurricanes turn the ball over on the Brumbies attack. The Hurricanes change sides and Nehe Milner-Skudder kicks and chases and almost gets the ball away for what could have been a try but the ball is lost forward.

5.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes from the scrum. Head and shoulders below the hips. Beauden  Barrett lines up the posts.

6.00: Barrett takes the kick but misses.

9.00: Penalty from the scrum to the Brumbies. Nic White takes the kick but slices it a bit.

10.00: The Hurricanes are making all of the early plays. Ardie Savea has a run and powers into Jesse Mogg. The Hurricanes get to the 5m line but they knock on. Four handling errors to one for the Hurricanes so far.

12.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. White kicks for touch and finds it.

13.00: The Brumbies win the line out scrappily but then they lose the ball forward.

14.00: The Hurricanes win the scrum and Barrett kicks to the corner for Julian Savea but he takes his eye off the ball and knocks it forward.

15.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes. They kick for touch and take the 5m line out.

16.00: Hurricanes go deep with the line out. Too deep. The Brumbies get to the ball and knock on.

18.00: The Hurricanes set up another 5m line out. This one they win as the Brumbies don’t challenge for the ball. The Hurricanes work the ball to the line near the posts but they are held up. 5m scrum.

20.00; The Hurricanes win the scrum on the 5m line. They get the advantage but continue to attack. They go wide but can’t get through. The Hurricanes keep the attack going but get pushed back to the Brumbies 22m line. They get the ball wide to Julian Savea who bashes off one tackle and crashes over to score. TRY!

21.00: Barrett misses the conversion.

23.00: The Hurricanes get the ball and TJ Perenara races for the line. He is just caught but the ball gets to Reg Goodes who goes for the line. We go to the TMO to check. Replays show he was short of the line. The TMO also has a look at some foul play. Beauden Barrett rucks Rory Arnold’s back so the Brumbies have a penalty. White kicks for touch.

25.00: The Brumbies win the line out and set up the maul. They win a penalty from it. White kicks for touch again.

26.00: The Brumbies win the line out but they join the ruck incorrectly after a couple of phases and concede a penalty. Hurricanes kick for touch and the line out.

27.00: The Hurricanes attack from their half. They get the ball to Milner-Skudder and he pulls in three Brumbies and then passes out. The Hurricanes get the ball to TJ Perenara who slips through and races for the line and scores. TRY!

28.00: Barrett slots the conversion.

30.00: The Brumbies turn the ball over and start their attack near the half way line. They go through the phases gradually working the ball to the 5m line. However they obstruct and concede a penalty. Barrett kicks for touch.

33.00: The Hurricanes run the ball but Justin Marshall knocks on after taking his eye off the ball.

34.00: The Brumbies win a scrum. They move the ball across the field and concede a penalty for not releasing. Barrett kicks for touch.
