English Premiership Rugby club Harlequins have announced that they have signed Super Rugby winner winner Beau Robinson from the Queensland Reds.
Super XV winning back-row Beau Robinson has joined the Club with immediate effect as injury dispensation cover for Netani Talei.
Fijian international Talei sustained a significant knee injury earlier this season following his return to Harlequins from Rugby World Cup 2015.
29 year-old Robinson arrives at the Club from NSW County Eagles, a team he joined this year following five seasons with Super XV franchise Queensland Reds, where he played alongside current Harlequin James Horwill.
Starting his Super XV career at the NSW Waratahs in 2006, he joined The Reds in 2011 after successfully completing a trial period.
In his first season, he helped Queensland to the 2011 Super XV title, before being capped by Australia against Samoa.
Playing for The Reds on over 50 occasions, he started against the British and Irish Lions in a midweek match during the 2013 tour.
The gifted six foot back rower is an aggressive competitor with an exceptional work rate in defence and will bolster the competitive Harlequins back-row for the rest of the season.
Confirming the news Harlequins Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea said,”We are delighted to able to bring in someone of Beau’s ability at such short notice. We are looking forward to welcoming him to Harlequins, helping him settle into London life and see him make a big impact for the Club for the rest of the season. ”
Robinson added,”I’m excited to have joined Harlequins and to be presented with the opportunity to play alongside some world class players. I’m looking forward to helping the Club push for honours in both the Aviva Premiership and the European Challenge Cup. “
