Gloucester confim Twelvetrees as club captain

Billy Twelvetrees will captain Gloucester

Aviva Premiership Rugby club Gloucester have announced that Billy Twelvetrees will continue as Club Captain for the forthcoming season.

The announcement was made Gloucester Rugby’s Director of Rugby David Humphreys.

Twelvetrees skippered the Cherry and Whites last season for the first time and lifted the European Rugby Challenge Cup following victory over Edinburgh Rugby at the Stoop in May.

The choice of the 26 year old, capped 22 times by his country, will ensure a degree of continuity at the club, but Humphreys was keen to stress that he will be supported by a number of other senior professionals within the squad.

“Leadership is a key element of every successful team and I’m delighted to confirm that Billy Twelvetrees will continue as Club Captain for this season.

“Billy has captained the side well over the past 12 months, winning the European Rugby Challenge Cup, and that experience will make him even better prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

“Billy will be well supported by a strong leadership group of players who have extensive experience of captaincy at all levels of the game and who will be central to delivering success at Gloucester.”
