Ahead of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership Rugby season we have a quick look at Gloucester Rugby Club and the season that lies ahead for them.

Gloucester kick off their Premiership campaign on Friday against Leicester Tigers at Kingsholm.

Gloucester’s only win in their last six season opening encounters in Aviva Premiership Rugby came with their victory at Newcastle last year.

Two of those round 1 fixtures were played at Kingsholm, losing to Northampton in 2012 and Sale in 2013.

Gloucester have won just one of their last four matches at Kingsholm in all competitions: 16-9 over Exeter Chiefs in Aviva Premiership Rugby on 15th April.

Leicester Tigers have secured an opening weekend victory in Premiership Rugby for the past four years.

The Tigers only victory in their last seven away games was 30-24 at Northampton in round 20 last season.

Gloucester have won only one of their last seven fixtures with Leicester: 33-16 at Kingsholm in Premiership Rugby in October 2014.
