Former England flanker Steffon Armitage has effectively ruled himself out of selection for England by signing a three year contract with Pau.
Armitage has often spoken of his desire to play for England and has been linked with a move to Bath and more recently Wasps.
However due to his signing with Pau he will will continue to be ineligible for England selection and he will remain in French Top 14 Rugby.
Armitage won five caps for England before moving to Toulon where he played a crucial role in their hat-trick of European titles between 2013 and 2015.
With Toulon Armitage also won a Top 14 title in 2014.
