Dallaglio offered job with Wasps

Lawrence Dallaglio retired yesterday and now only a day later he has been offered a new job after he hangs up his boots.

Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards says he would love Dallaglio to join the club’s coaching staff.

“I don’t want him to leave the club and it would be very nice for him to be around in some capacity next season,” Edwards told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Then, maybe the following season, maybe he could move into the coaching or whatever he wishes to do.”

Dallaglio announced on Thursday that he has retired from international rugby with immediate effect and that he will retire from club rugby at the end of this season.

“Coaching is something I want to do in the future – but not in the immediate future. ” Dallaglio told the BBC.

“I wouldn’t expect to have the skills straight away so I would take time away from the game and come back later.

“I have my level two coaching badges and I would look to get level three, but there are no guarantees that you can make it as a coach.

“Just because you’ve been an elite player it doesn’t mean that you can be an elite coach. It is not something you can walk into. You have to be humble.

“It is something that I am looking to do in the future definitely. I have a contract that continues until next year and I will certainly be involved with Wasps in some capacity next season.”
