Exiles furious over elbow

London Irish are demanding action after forward Kieran Roche suffered a horror eye injury against Perpignan.

Roche suffered a fractured eye-socket and was temporarily blinded in his left eye after he was elbowed in the face in their 23-6 Heineken Cup defeat.

The 28-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment and a furious London director Brian Smith told Clubcall, “Roche was blind in his left eye on Saturday night.

“When Freshwater took Roche out, it cost us a crucial lineout forward. It was a huge loss for us.

“We had issues last week at home against Perpignan when one of our players had his head stamped on.
