McCall joins Castres

Former Ulster coach Mark McCall has been appointed backs coach of French side Castres. McCall comes in as replacement for Ugo Mola at the club.

Castres are currently second from bottom in the French Championship.

McCall stepped down from the Ulster job last month after the side’s poor start to this season.

Mola who is a former French international and played for the club Castres from 1999-2006 has a contract that was supposed to run until the end of the season but Castres have just five points with three defeats and one victory in their four matches so far.

“These decisions (Alain Gaillard was appointed sporting director also on Monday) were taken following rising dissent within the team and a bad start to the campaign,” read a club statement.
