Wasps buzz into Semi-final

Wasps secured a place in the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals with their second home win over Newcastle in six days.


The match was Jonny Wilkinson’s first match since the world cup final but even he could not make much difference even though he scored all of their points.

Wasps saw the return of Phil Vickery and Toby Flood returned for Newcastle who also brought on All Black Carl Hayman at half-time when they had failed to score a point.

Wasps by half time had the match wrapped up enjoying an 18-0 lead. Danny Cipriani contributed 14 points, with four penalties and a conversion in the match.
