Flutey thinking about playing for England

New Zealand-born wasps star Riki Flutey says it would be an honour if he were chosen to play for England and would think about accepting the offer if the selectors came calling.

Flutey has played for the All Blacks at all age grades, but is now ineligible to play for them now due to their selection policy of only selecting home-based players.

“I’ve been thinking about it in the last few weeks, if I’m playing well when I’m eligible at the end of the season and if I did get the opportunity, I would have to think about it”, Flutey told ThisislocalLondon.

“My daughter is born here, we’ve got roots and this is where I live. It would be an honour to play for England alongside some Wasps players, and at the highest level against World Class players.

“I’ve represented New Zealand at all the age grade levels and led the Haka through all of those teams. I’m quite a staunch New Zealander but if I did get the opportunity I’d consider it.”

Flutey is one of the ever growing number of Kiwis playing in Europe.
