Du Preez ruled out of Bok test

Scrumhalf Fourie du Preez has become the latest Springbok to withdraw from the end-of-year tour to the United Kingdom.

Du Preez has not recovered from a shoulder injury he sustained during this year’s Super 14. He aggravated the injury against Samoa in the World Cup pool stages but is not considered fit enough to play now.

Du Preez’s loss will be a big blow to the Boks and his withdrawal brings to 13 the number of members of the World Cup squad who are not available for this Saturday’s test against Wales the first time that the Springboks will play as World champions of 2007.

Coach Jake White said Du Preez would not be replaced. Ricky Januarie is likely to start as scrumhalf on Saturday, with Ruan Pienaar at fullback in place of the injured Percy Montgomery.
