Barnard ruptures Achilles

It has been confirmed that Wasps prop Pat Barnard has ruptured his Achilles tendon during a game against London Irish on Sunday.

Barnard underwent surgery to repair the tendon on Tuesday, and now faces six months of rehabilitation before returning to playing action.

“Everyone at Wasps is hugely disappointed for Pat,” said Wasps Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan.

“He had put in a lot of work to get to where he was playing-wise; he was just finding his full fitness and playing well when this injury happened.

“We really feel for him, having invested so much time and effort and not being able to make the most of it.”
