Tough task for McGeechan

Ian McGeechan has admitted Wasps face an uphill struggle to claim a Guinness Premiership play-off place following their nightmare start to the season.

The European champions have claimed just three points in their opening four matches and are yet to win a game.

And the director of rugby, who has been without several first-team players due to World Cup commitments, believes his side may struggle from their current tenth league position.

“We’ve got a mountain to climb now,” he said, speaking to the Enfield Independent.

“We want to be top four, but we’ve given a few sides a head start now.

“We’re ten, 12 points behind I think and we can’t afford to be losing too many games from here on in.”
