Masoe stays booted at Wellington

Chris Masoe has renewed his contract with Wellington, which will keep him there for the next two years, bucking the trend of players out of contract post-RWC and heading to Europe.

Masoe joined Wellington from Taranaki last year, and has forced his way to the fringes of the All Blacks squad, making his debut against Wales in 2005, although he has not been able to claim a regular spot.

Originally a Samoan, Masoe is regarded as a utility lose forward, able to cover all three back-row positions, but it is at number seven where he is considered to be best.

He will be with Wellington until the end of the 2009 Super 14.
