Ellison ruled out of Rebels match against the Force

The Rebels will host the Western Force at AAMI Park on Friday without centre Tamati Ellison as he has joined winger Sefanaia Naivalu on the injury list.

Rebels’ Head of Athletic Performance Bryce Cavanagh said that the decision to rule Ellison out had been made early to allow the team to prepare knowing he wouldn’t be available for available for selection.

“We’ve made the decision to rule Tamati out due to his groin injury,” Cavanagh said.

“We will now begin exploring the best course of action for Tamati moving forward.”

Naivalu returned to Melbourne on Saturday afternoon, after undergoing surgery in South Africa to his broken leg.

“It’s really good to have Sefa home after he successfully underwent surgery last week,” Cavanagh said.

“Now that he’s back in Melbourne, we can begin to plan his long-form rehabilitation and work with him towards a successful recovery.”
