Stormers beat Melbourne Rebels in Cape Town

Out of the last three Super Rugby matches between the Cape Town based Stormers and the Melbourne based Rebels the Stormers have won two and the Rebels three.

We are waiting for the kick off.

 Jack Debreczeni kicks off and we are underway. 

2.00: The Rebels get caught accidentally offside so the Stormers will get the first scrum of the game. 

5.00: Penalty from the scrum. Demetri Catrakilis takes the kick and nails it. The Stormers lead. 

8.00: Damian de Allende gets outside the Rebels on the wing but is then brought to ground. The referee missed an obstruction in the move. The Stormers knock on so the Rebels have a 5m scrum.

10.00: The Rebels win the scrum and run the ball initially out of their 22 and then kick for touch. 

12.00: Penalty to the Rebels. They kick for touch and the line out. The Rebels win the line and chip kick the ball through and behind the Stormers. The Rebels chase the ball after it gets knocked back by the Stormers and Seabelo Senatla kicks it out over the dead ball line. The Rebels get a 5m scrum. 

13.00: The Stormers win the scrum and try to run the ball out of their 22. They win a penalty. The Stormers kick for touch. 

18.00: The Rebels are keeping the Stormers under pressure in their 22. They are playing a strong territorial game. 

20.00: The Rebels win a scrum in the Stormers 22. They work the ball up to the 5m line. They Rebels change sides. The Rebels snipe through a gap and go over the line but Harris is held up. 

23.00: The Stormers turn the ball over in the Rebels half and De Allende slips off a tackle and goes in to score. TRY! 

25.00: Catrakilis adds the conversion. 

28.00; The Rebels break through the Stormers defence and Dom Shipperley slips over and scores. TRY! The Stormers get a warning for Eben Etzebeth and off the ball stuff. 

29.00: Jack Debreczeni adds the conversion. 

33.00: Penalty to the Stormers. Catrakilis takes the kick and nails it. 

36.00: The Rebels knock on in the Stormers in their half. The Stormers win the scrum and kick upfield. 

38.00: The Rebels chip the ball over the Stormers but the Stormers get back and counter attack. The Rebels stop the attack and kick the ball back to the Stormers. 

39.00: The Stormers get the ball back to Catrakilis who kicks to the corner and sets up a 5m line out. 

40.00: The Stormers don’t contest the line out as the siren sounds. The Rebels run the ball but then Dillyn Leyds gets an intercept and he races through to score the Stormers second TRY! 

Catrakilis misses the conversion.

The Stormers kick off and we are underway. 

42.00: The Rebels win an early penalty.Debreczeni takes the shot at the posts and curls it in. 

43.00: The game is paused as we go to the TMO. Nic Stirzaker rucks a player’s leg missing the ball. It’s a penalty to the Stormers. Catrakilis takes the penalty kick and nails it. 

46.00: The Stormers win a scrum and they get the ball to Dillyn Leyds on the wing and he cuts back inside and scores next to the posts. 

47.00: Catrakilis adds the conversion. 

51.00: The Rebels go through the phases on attack on the half way line. HIgginbotham races away to score a try and a quick pass but he is called back as the pass was forward. 

54.00: The Rebels work the ball into the Stormers 22. Higginbotham almost gets through but the Rebels keep the ball alive. 

55.00: The Stormers turn the ball over and kick it over the half way line. 

57.00: The Rebels keep the attack going and eventually the Stormers defence gets stretched and  Tom English scores. TRY! 

57.00: Debreczeni misses the conversion. 

64.00: Penalty from the scrum again to the Stormers. Front row collapsing. Catrakilis lines up the posts. 

65.00: Catrakilis takes the shot and nails it. 

70.00: The Rebels are not giving up. They win a penalty just inside their half. They tap and go but the Stormers turn the ball over and run it back into the Rebels half. 

73.00: The Stormers chip the ball over the Rebels but Bryce Hegarty gets to the ball first and secures it. 

74.00: The Rebels work the ball into the Stormers 22. They get to the 5m line and win a penalty. 

75.00: The Rebels tap and go but get stopped short. The Rebels move the ball wide. Debreczeni almost gets through but he is stopped. Sean McMahon drives for the line. We go to the TMO to check the grounding. The TMO rules that he was short and the ball was lost forward. The ball was on the line there – could have gone either way. 

78.00: The Stormers set up an attacking scrum.

80.00: The Stormers run the ball as the siren sounds. Senatla gets tackled into touch. Thats it. The Stormers win.
