Brumbies hopeful Toomua will face Bulls

Canberra Super Rugby franchise are hoping that they will get playmaker Matt Toomua back for their match against the Bulls next week after the bye.

The Brumbies returned from South Africa after they beat the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday and have this week off to rest the injury niggles and bumps.

Toomua was forced to leave the field early in the match against the Lions and has since been cleared of serious ankle ligament damage after having scans.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham says that he will give Toomua until the first half of next week to prove that he is fit to return to the playing field.

Larkham hopes that Toomua will be able to partner Christian Lealiifano in the Brumbies midfield for their final three games of the regular season.
