Broken hand ends Reinach’s SuperRugby tour early

Durban based Super Rugby franchise the Sharks have lost scrumhalf Cobus Reinach for the rest of their tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Springbok scrumhalf Reinach was forced to leave the field in the Sharks 48-15 loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin.

Scans on Reinach’s hand have confirmed that the No.9 has broken a bone in his hand and he will now return home to South Africa.

The Sharks have scrumhalves Conrad Hoffmann and Stefan Ungerer already in the squad in New Zealand.

According to Netwerk24 the Sharks have opted against calling up another scrumhalf and instead called up hooker Kyle Cooper.

The Sharks are in Wellington this week where they will face a touch match against Super Rugby’s leaders the Hurricanes.

Next week the Sharks move to Australia where they will play the Waratahs in Sydney and then the Reds in Brisbane.
