Kaino: Blues need to be better against Cheetahs

Blues captain Jerome Kaino says that they will have to improve their game when they face the Cheetahs in their third round Super Rugby match in Bloemfontein this weekend.

The Blues have lost both of their opening matches this season despite showing signs of promise.

Last weekend a 14 man Blues team went down 27-16 to the Stormers in Cape Town and Kaino said that he was disappointed with their performance.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup hero said that they will need to improve if they are to come away from Bloemfontein as winners.

“We had a number of problem areas against the Stormers, especially when it came to our discipline, ” Kaino told MyPlayers.

“The Stormers capitalised on this as they took points back home whenever they visited our half, whether it was through a try or a penalty.

“They kept the scoreboard ticking, and that put so much pressure on us. We struggled to fight back against their strong approach. We will need to be better against the Cheetahs this weekend. “

Kaino said that he believes the Cheetahs attack and running game will be their biggest threat against the Blues.

“The Cheetahs will run you ragged. They are very good with ball in hand, and are always a physical team, ” said Kaino.

“We will need to bulk up on defence and make sure we don’t allow them to build momentum against us. They will be tough to beat on Friday. “
