Wasps confirm first home match at Ricoh Arena

Wasps host Newcastle Falcons at the Ricoh Arena

Aviva Premiership Rugby club have confirmed that their first home match at the Ricoh Arena will be in December against London Irish

Wasps dropped the “London” from their name earlier this year and announced last week that they will be moving their home games to Coventry after taking a shareholding in the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry City will remain tenants in the stadium and will have “primacy over match fixtures” after recently moving back to the stadium.

The Professional Game Board (PGB) which includes the Rugby Football Union and Premiership Rugby have approved Wasps move to the Ricoh as it only involves moving matches.

The move does not impact on the clubs Academy systems and they will retain their base in Sudbury, Middlesex.

Wasps have played at Adams Park in High Wycombe for the past 12 years and they share the ground with Wycombe Wanderers.

The Aviva Premiership club’s first home game at the Ricoh Arena will be against London Irish on Sunday the 21st of December with a 2pm kick off and will be televised by BT Sport.
