Sharks make one Currie Cup change for EP Kings

The Sharks have named a Currie Cup team with one change to their starting line up to play the Eastern Province Kings at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday.

Khaya Majola will make his Currie Cup starting debut after being named as the only change to the side for this week.

The 22-year-old loose forward replaces Jacques Botes, who failed to recover from an SC joint sprain, at flank as coach Brad Macleod-Henderson opted to retain the rest of the team that won 26-15 at the Blue Bulls last weekend.

Rising star Thomas du Toit has again been ruled out with a toe injury, while scrumhalf Conrad Hoffmann (buttock) and lock Stephan Lewies (knee) are fit enough to take their places on the bench.

Springbok winger Lwazi Mvovo also stays in the team after being released by national coach Heyneke Meyer.

The Kings are without a win after seven rounds of the competition and bottom of the log, while the Sharks ended a three-game winless streak in Pretoria last Saturday to climb to third.

“We have to play well and have a good game, we have to man up defensively and we just have to keep winning,” assistant coach Paul Anthony said.

“EP Kings will be difficult because they have nothing to lose, they can play as they want, with some sort of freedom. There won’t be any pressure on them, so we need to settle down, focus and go hard at them.”
