Brumbies beat Chiefs in Canberra

The Brumbies and the Chiefs have already met once this year in Super Rugby and the Brumbies won the match with an 18 margin.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Nic White kicks off and we are underway.

Early penalty to the Chiefs for tackling a player without the ball. They kick for touch, don’t find it but the Brumbies kick the ball out and the Chiefs have good field position.

1.00: The Chiefs win the line out and attack until the Brumbies go off their feet. Penalty in front to the Chiefs.

3.00: Cruden takes the kick and nails it. The Chiefs lead.

4.00: The Brumbies have the ball on attack in the Chiefs 22. Speight almost gets through and gets to 5m out. He is caught but the Brumbies recycle and change sides.

5.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. Not rolling away. Tim Nanai-Williams is yellow carded. The Brumbies kick for touch and the line out.

6.00: The Brumbies win the line out and use the maul. They suck the Chiefs in and Nic White snipes off the maul and scores. TRY!

7.00: Lealiifano slots the conversion and the crowd are very vocal. Big support for the home side.

9.00: The Brumbies go wide from a Chiefs kick, White passes to Jesse Mogg who uses his pace to get around the Chiefs, he passes to Robbie Coleman to shows as much pace and scores taking two Chiefs over with him. TRY!

10.00: Lealiffano slots the conversion.

11.00: The Brumbies steal the ball at the breakdown and attack. They look very dangerous but a poor pass goes in and they knock on.  

14.00: The Chiefs win the scrum and James Lowe kicks the ball well upfield.

15.00: The Brumbies get the ball again and start carving through the Chiefs. They get into the Chiefs 22 and the ball slows.

16.00: The Brumbies keep the ball alive through 8 phases but they knock on. Nanai-Williams comes back on. That’s 14 points scored while he was off. The game is held up as Sam Carter gets some bandaging. Chiefs have missed 12 tackles so far.

17.00: The Chiefs win the scrum and Lowe kicks for touch again.

20.00: The Brumbies go on the attack again in the Chiefs 22. Mowen shoves off three defenders and then they get the ball wide out to Jesse Mogg who slips over in the corner. TRY!

21.00: Lealiffano takes the conversion from almost the touchline but misses. The Chiefs are really struggling to get any ball.

24.00: The Chiefs finally get some attacking ball and they start working it up the middle of the field but then it slows and they give away a penalty for not releasing. The Brumbies kick for touch and the line out.

27.00: The Brumbies win the line out and go through 15 phases and then they win a penalty. Lealiffano will kick for posts.

29.00: Lealiifano slots the penalty.

30.00: The Chiefs get the ball after a line out to the Brumbies 5m line. They look dangerous and go wide but the Brumbies are ready for them and slow them right down.  The Chiefs grind forward slowly and win a penalty for leaving the feet.

32.00: The Chiefs try to attack on the 5m line but Cruden chips the ball to the wing and the Brumbies get to the ball first and make the mark. The Brumbies clear.

34.00: The Chiefs get the ball and grind it forward to the Brumbies line again. They use the forwards on the line and then send the ball put to Bundee Aki who crashes over for the Chiefs first TRY!

36.00: Cruden slots the conversion which cuts the gap to 12. Most of the play in the last 10 minutes has been the Chiefs.

38.00: The Brumbies win a line out in the Chiefs 22. They move the ball wide out to Mogg and then Speight but they are stopped and the Chiefs turn the ball over and kick it upfield into touch.

39.00: The Brumbies win the line out and attack again in the Chiefs 22. They go from side to side. The siren sounds and the Brumbies play on.
