Tameifuna to play SuperRugby for Chiefs in 2015

Super Rugby champions the Chiefs have re-signed Popular prop Ben Tameifuna for the 2015 Super Rugby season.

The strong scrummager and crowd favourite said his decision to stay was simple.

“I am a Chief by choice,” said Tameifuna.

“There is a great amount of support in all aspects of this environment which is important for me to continue to develop both on and off the field.”

Chiefs’ coach Dave Rennie acknowledged the 22-year old has made big shifts on and off the field.

“We are really happy with Tama,” said Rennie of Tameifuna.

“He’s a powerful man, a destructive tackler with an impressive skillset. “

“Ben does an amazing job in our community. He is fantastic with people and we are rapt he’s back on board next year,” added the coach.

Tameifuna made his Chiefs debut in March 2012 against the Blues and has played 48 games for the side.

He was part of the 2011 New Zealand U20 Junior World Championship side and has also represented New Zealand Secondary Schools and will play his ITM Cup for Waikato
