Highlanders beat Chiefs in Dunedin

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Highlanders and the Chiefs the current Super Rugby champions the Chiefs have won four matches and the Highlanders one.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Aaron Cruden kicks off and we are underway.

The Highlanders win an early penalty as a Highlanders player is tackled in the air. They kick for touch.

1.00: The Highlanders win the line out but they knock on.

2.00: The Chiefs win the scrum and attack but then they kick high and a player is tackled in the air so they win a penalty (Osborne).

3.00: The Chiefs go through the phases on attack in the Highlanders half but they gets pushed out wide into touch.

5.00: Ben Smith tries to clear the ball but he is charged down by Brodie Retalick and the ball is regained by the Highlanders after a chase. The Chiefs are awarded a penalty.

7.00: Aaron Cruden takes the penalty kick and it goes in off the post. The Chiefs lead.

9.00: The Chiefs are putting the Highlanders under pressure on their line. They get held up over the line and get awarded a 5m scrum.

12.00: The Highlanders defend their line and press the Chiefs back out of their 22. They win a penalty and kick for touch.

13.00: The Highlanders manage to stretch the Chiefs defence after the line out. Treeby makes a break and then Fekitoa gets through and passes to Ben Smith who sets up Patrick Osborne who goes in for the first TRY! Osborne goes across and dots it down behind the posts.

15.00: Lima Sopoaga slots the conversion.

16.00: The Chiefs hit straight back. They get the ball into the Highlanders 22 as Cruden chips ahead and the ball bounces oddly but nicely for Dwayne Sweeney who gets it and scores. TRY!

17.00: Aaron Cruden takes the conversion kick and nails it. Chiefs lead again.

20.00: The Chiefs have missed five tackles to none so far. The Highlanders chip the ball upfield but Anscombe is there and he kicks the ball straight back and makes ground.

21.00: The Chiefs win a penalty from the line out and they take the quick tap but knock on giving a scrum to the Highlanders.

23.00: The Chiefs have the ball on the Highlanders 22. They go through the phases and almost stretch the Highlanders but the final pass goes into touch.

26.00: Ben Smith chips the ball upfield along the line. Sweeney has to chase it and watch it go into touch. The Chiefs then win the line out and kick well downfield.

28.00: The Chiefs win a penalty on the half way line for Buckman not releasing the ball. Anscombe will kick for posts.

29.00: The kick is just inside the Highlanders half. Anscombe just gets it over the bar to extend the lead.

32.00: There is a break in play for an injury.

33.00: The game resumes with a scrum and the Highlanders win a penalty as the Chiefs front row collapsed.

34.00: Lima Sopoaga takes the penalty kick and he nails it.

37.00: The Highlanders try to go wide but the Chiefs stop them and they Chiefs go on the run. The ball is slowed and the Highlanders win a scrum as the ball does dead.

39.00: The scrum battles to complete and has to be reset a couple of times.

40.00: The scrum completes and the Highlanders kick the ball deep. Tom Marshall boots the ball into touch and then the siren sounds.

41.00: The Highlanders win an early penalty so Lima Sopoaga takes the kick and levels the scores.

43.00: The Highlanders lose the line out as the Chiefs get a hand to it but they take the ball out again and the Highlanders get another line out. They take the ball out this time.

44.00: The Chiefs get a line out on the Highlanders 22. They win the line out
