Highlanders make five changes for Hurricanes

Highlanders head coach Jamie Joseph has named a team with five changes to the one that lost to the Force for this week’s match against the Hurricanes in Dunedin.

The Highlanders narrowly lost to the Western Force on Saturday and have a short six day turn around before facing a buoyant Hurricanes side coming off a massive win against the Cheetahs in Wellington.

Former All Black Brad Thorn returns to the side in the the number four jersey after being side-lined with a rib injury since round three and replaces Jarrad Hoeata.

Ma’afu Fia gets his first start of the 2014 season in the front row replacing Chris King who drops down to the bench.

John Hardie drops out of the team and is replaced by Elliot Dixon who comes into the starting line up. His place on the bench is taken up by TJ Ioane.

Phil Burleigh will also receive his first start for the season while Patrick Osborne returns from a high ankle injury to start on the wing.

Craig Millar, Josh Bekhuis and Shaun Treeby are all named on the replacements bench.
