Narraway joins London Irish ending Top14 stint

Aviva Premiership Rugby club London Irish have announced that former Gloucester and England international Luke Narraway has agreed to leave the Top 14 and join the Exiles on a two year deal.

The experienced number 8 joins London Irish from Top 14 side Perpignan where he has spent the last two seasons.

Narraway joined Gloucester Rugby from The King’s School, Worcester in 2002 and went on to make 163 appearances for the Cherry and Whites before signing for Perpignan. During his time in the West Country he won the European Challenge Cup and LV=Cup.

The athletic and powerful back rower has been capped seven times by England and has been involved in three successful England Saxon Churchill Cup campaigns.

He has represented England at every level from the U18s to the senior Test team, and he was a member of the England U21 side that won a first Six Nations Grand Slam in 2004.

Brian Smith, London Irish Director of Rugby, said,”Luke is a talented player with a huge amount of Premiership experience. As a Club, we want to be challenging for silverware and we need the right type of player to achieve those goals. I had the pleasure of working with Luke in the England set up and look forward to doing so again next season. He has bought into what we want to accomplish and therefore is a perfect fit for London Irish.”

Commenting on his decision to sign for London Irish, Luke said,”There has been a lot of positive news to come out of London Irish over the last six months, not least with the announcement of the new Board of Directors and the move to a new state of the art training ground. I’m excited with the direction the Club are heading and I’m looking forward to being a part of their plans.”
