Lions prop Bees Roux cleared to play Cheetahs

The Lions have revealed that former Bulls Super Rugby winner Bees Roux has been cleared to play opening the door for him to play against the Cheetahs this weekend in the opening round.

Roux played in Friday’s Super Rugby warm up match against the Sharks at Ellis Park and was injured and then stretchered from the field.

The former Bulls and Cheetahs front rower sustained a severe neck stinger and was only assisted from the field as a precaution.

The Lions also said that they had picked up no other injuries in Friday’s warm up matches.

The three players currently recovering from shoulder injuries, namely Anthony Volmink, Elton Jantjies and Ruan Dreyer, continue to make good progress.

Dreyer is being considered for this weekend’s game following a rapid recovery, while Jantjies and Volmink are expected to be ready to play within the next fortnight.
