England boosted by Parling & Corbisiero return

England have lost prop Mako Vunipola for this weekend’s Autumn International against Argentina but can expect to have British and Irish Lions forwards Geoff Parling and Alex Corbisiero back.

Vunipola has a knee injury from the 20-13 victory over Australia but was expected to drop to the bench against the Pumas with the return of Corbisiero who has recovered from a knee injury.

“Mako is unfortunately struggling with a ligament strain to his knee and is not available for selection this week,” Lancaster said.

They have replaced lock Dave Attwood and prop Mako Vunipola, respectively, in a provisional 27-man squad ahead of Thursday’s team announcement.

Hooker Rob Webber is on standby for Saturday as Tom Youngs’ wife is expecting their first child.

“There are a couple of changes to the squad with Geoff and Alex back and it’s great they are back in the mix,” Lancaster said.

“We have named an extended squad as we need a further 24 hours to assess one or two minor niggles in the build-up to the team announcement on Thursday morning.”

England began their autumn series with a 20-13 victory over the Wallabies on Saturday.

New Zealand’s All Blacks will also visit Twickenham this month.
