Scotland winger Visser out of action until 2014

Scotland will be without winger Tim Visser for their Autumn Internationals after he broke his shin and damaging ankle ligaments in a club game.

Exams showed Visser will need surgery, his Edinburgh club said on Tuesday.

Visser, Edinburgh’s leading try-scorer, was hurt in a Pro12 win over Treviso at Murrayfield on Friday.

He will miss Scotland’s autumn tests next month against Japan, South Africa and Australia, and could miss the start of the Six Nations on Feb. 2.

He has six tries in 12 tests for Scotland, since his debut last year.

“He’s an asset for Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland,” Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons said. “We all wish him a speedy recovery.”
