May helps Gloucester to victory over Saracens

Gloucester winger Jonny May scored a brace of tries to help his team to a 28-23 Aviva Premiership victory over Saracens at Kingsholm on Saturday.

The hosts held off a late Saracens fightback to take the spoils in a tense
thriller at Kingsholm.

Gloucester were attempting to get back on track after losing to Sale, while
Saracens were coming off the back of a comfortable win against Worcester.

Freddie Burns opened the scoring for Gloucester, converting an early penalty.
This was quickly followed by a try from May, after a run down the wing had laid
the platform.

But Saracens bounced back, and they pulled level thanks to a penalty from Owen
Farrell, and Joel Tomkins strolled past the line for an easy try, with Farrell
landing the conversion to put Saracens into the lead.

Farrell then converted another penalty to extend Saracens’ advantage. However,
Gloucester came back, May scoring his second try following good build-up play,
with Burns following up with a successful conversion.

Burns then kicked another penalty before half-time, to give his team a deserved
18-13 lead going into the break.

It took a while for the scoring to resume in the second half, Farrell converting
his third penalty of the game to put Saracens back in contention.

Gloucester pulled away soon after, courtesy of Ben Morgan crossing the line,
followed by a Burns conversion.

But Saracens mounted a late fightback, Tomkins earning a second try, after
a great offload from Mako Vunipola. Farrell slotted another conversion to set
up a tense finish.

Burns put any Gloucester nerves to bed through the conversion of a final late
penalty, earning his team a hard-fought victory.
