Nonu, Collins return for Umaga farewell

Jerry Collins has recovered from what appeared to be a devastating neck injury to take the number six jersey filled by Jason Eaton who has even more serious injury concerns to deal with, having been ruled out for the entire season with a knee injury.

This means Collins gets his chance to provide a fitting send-off to his old skipper Tana Umaga when the Hurricanes host the Waratahs in Wellington.

Ma’a Nonu also returns in the stead of Tamati Ellison to take his place alongside friend, former skipper and teammate Umaga, who has played with him provincially, in the Super 14 and nationally.

In another change David Smith gains a spot on the left wing at the expense of injured Hosea Gear. Shannon Paku shifts to the right wing to make the spot available.

Not only will Umaga be saying goodbye, but also Paul Tito, who is off to Cardiff, utility forward Luke Andrews who heads for Japan, and winger Lome Fa’atau who is reportedly bound for Scotland or France.
