Booth to leave London Irish for Bath

London Irish head coach Toby Booth has been linked to a move away from the Exiles to West Country club and Premiership rivals Bath.

Booth’s appointment is set to be confirmed later on Tuesday when Bath confirm that their new Director of Rugby is former Newcastle Falcons interim coach Gary Gold replacing Sir Ian McGeechan.

Gold spent time as London Irish coach before he was appointed as Springboks forwards coach up to the recent Rugby World Cup.

Booth will join Gold at The Rec with former England coach Mike Ford, who worked took up a short stint with Gold at Newcastle.

Ford replaced Phil Larder in the England coaching team and was England’s defence coach from 2006 until the end of 2011.

Current Bath coach Brad Davis is the only survivor from Sir Ian McGeechan’s term.
