Reds v Brumbies Super Rugby Preview

The Reds have one of the worst records in Super Rugby against an opposition team having lost almost 90 % of their matches against the Brumbies.

The Reds and the Brumbies have played each other 18 times and the reigning Super rugby champions have won just twice. Their success rate against the Brumbies in percentage terms is 11.1%.

One of those rare Reds victories came last year in March at Canberra in the first match between the two teams last season.

The Brumbies however hit back in the second match between the teams at Suncorp stadium with a 14-22 victory in the Reds backyard.

Before last year’s March victory for the Reds the Queenslanders lost 12 straight matches against the Brumbies as their only other victory was in march 1999 – in the Super 12.

The Brumbies have therefore not lost a match against the Reds one their last six visits to Brisbane.

On average when the Reds and the Brumbies play each other the Reds score 15 points and the Brumbies score 30. In Brisbane where the Reds have home advantage the average scores only marginally improve for the Reds at 15-26.

The only statistic close to being in the Reds favour is that they have only played the Brumbies twice on a Friday in 18 matches and they have won one and lost one – both matches were in Brisbane.

The injury ravaged Reds are on a three match losing streak and will be desperate not to lose another match now that they are at home again.

The Brumbies lost last week as well but lead the Australian conference although they have yet to win away from home but will head to Brisbane with confidence of ending that due to their record.

The Bookies have given the Brumbies a 3 point start for this match – with an offer of Bet 5 and Get 50 in Bets. We are going against the bookies on this one. The Brumbies should win by 3.

This match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on the Sky Sports HD3.
