Force v Reds Super Rugby preview

The last four matches between the Force and the Reds have all been won by the Reds whether they were at home or away.

That means that the Reds have not lost to the Force since 2009 when the men from Perth won 39-7 in Perth.

The Force and the Reds have played each other 8 times and the Force have only won twice. On average when the Force play the Reds they score 22 points and the Reds score 25 points.

In Perth the Force score on average 33 points and the Reds score 11 points but this is distorted a little due to the Force’s 2009 blow out in Perth.

The Force have a good record against the Reds in Perth as the teams have played each other three times and the Force have won twice and lost once.

The Reds and the Force actually played each other earlier this month in Brisbane and the Reds won 20-35. Mike Harris shot to fame in that match for kicking seven penalties and two conversions.

Also in that match Radike Samo raced away to score a 55m try. Both Samo and Harris are absent this weekend.

The Reds were hammered 68-7 last weekend and have done some soul searching while the Force will be coming off a frustrating 30-29 loss to the Rebels.

This will be the last time that Nathan Sharpe gets to play against his former team the Reds so the Force will be up for this no doubt.

Last week the Reds lost Jono Lance who appears to be the last of the Reds kickers. Will Genia has had a couple of shots at goal but missed both times so we are not entirely sure who will be taking the Reds kicks. The Reds points will most likely come from tries due to the lack of a kicker.

The Bookies have given the  Western Force 1 point start for this match – with an offer of Bet 5 and Get 50 in Bets. We expect a tight clash due to the Reds injuries. However even with the injuries the Reds should sneak this one. Reds to sneak it by two points.

This match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on the Sky Sports HD1.

Average score: Force 22 Reds 25
