Chiefs vs Waratahs Super Rugby Preview

The last three matches between the Chiefs and the Waratahs have all been won by the Waratahs including a 27 point hammering in Hamilton.

The last time the Waratahs toured Hamilton they hammered the Chiefs 19-46.

The Chiefs and the Waratahs have played each other 16 times and the Chiefs have won just six times and lost ten times.

On average when the Chiefs and the Waratahs play each other the Chiefs score 24 points and the Waratahs score 28 points.

In New Zealand the teams have played each other eight times and they have a 50/50 record as both teams have won four and lost four. That is not a good home record at all.

On average in New Zealand the Chiefs score 28 points against the Waratahs who score 30 points when the two teams meet. The stats suggest that the Waratahs will edge the Chiefs this week.

The Waratahs have named an unchanged starting team for this week’s match with live-wire number 9 Sarel Pretorius on the bench again

An exciting on field battle in this match is Sonny Bill Williams going up against Waratahs centre Tom Carter.

The Waratahs have had something of a shaky start to the Super Rugby season but they will head into the match with confidence having beaten the Sharks last weekend.

The Chiefs had the bye last week and it came at a good time for them with the injuries that were building up. Their last match was a victory over the Brumbies but with a bye in between they can be expected to start slowly while they blow off the cobwebs.

The Bookies have given the Waratahs a 6 point start for this match – with an offer of Bet 5 and Get 50 in Bets. The Waratahs snatched victory at the death last week when the Sharks faded. That shouldn’t happen this week. The Chiefs should win by 4.

This match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on the Sky Sports HD3.
