Perpignan beat Cavalieri Prato in Challenge Cup

Perpignan secured a 13-30 victory over Cavalieri Prato in Pool 4 of the Amlin Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Perpignan climbed to the top of Amlin Challenge Cup Pool Four with a comprehensive
victory over I Cavalieri Prato at Stadio Lungobisenzio.

The hosts got off to an assured start with former Italy fly-half Rima Wakarua
slotting two early penalties.

Perpignan fly-half Jerome Porical nullified Wakarua’s efforts with two successful
shots of his own before the French club’s juggernaut pack were rewarded for
their forward dominance with a penalty try.

Porical added the extras to hand his side a 13-6 lead approaching the half-hour

The Top14 outfit struggled for find momentum in the second-half but secured
a second penalty try from Welsh official James Jones on 53 minutes with Porical
again converted.

Replacement scrum-half Florian Cazenave sniped over for the Catalan’s third
touchdown on 67 minutes before Henry Tuilagi bulldozed over for the crucial
bonus-point try.

Niccolo Tempestini raced clear to grab the Italian club’s first try on 77 minutes
but it was not enough as Perpignan left with a maximum points haul.
