Wilkinson to start in Top 14 Rugby for Toulon

England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson is set to be thrown straight back into Top 14 Rugby for Toulon just a week after England were knocked out of the Rugby World Cup.

Wilkinson’s Top 14 team Toulon have a date with former Champions Perpignan on Saturday and Wilkinson looks set to feature.

The 32-year-old fly-half, who was part of the England team that suffered a disappointing quarter-final exit in New Zealand at the hands of France, trained with his club colleagues on Thursday morning and will be a replacement for Saturday’s game at the Stade Mayol.

It will be Wilkinson’s first match under new Toulon coach Bernard Laporte.
