Benetton proved on Saturday that their victory against Glasgow was no fluke by beating the Scarlets 20-10 at Stadio di Monigo.
The venetians put two tries past Nigel Davies’ charges in a clash that saw them build upon the momentum of their Scottish victory after the Scarlets faltered despite a bright start.
Ludovico Nitoglia was the first to cross the whitewash just before the break to end the 3-3 deadlock caused by Dan Newton and Kris Burton exchanging penalties.
The scores were levelled again straight after the second half got under way with Liam Williams’ scoring a try off the back of a little innovation from Lee Williams but Treviso were on a mission and Burton’s boot was soon in action to push the hosts back ahead.
Brendan Williams was the man to open the gap shortly after with an interception that saw the Scarlets’ chasing his tail as he sped for the goal area and though the visitors increased the pressure, there were no more points to be had.
