Wallaby Prop Robinson out of Rugby world cup

Wallabies prop Benn Robinson has given up on his fight to play in the Rugby World Cup and ruled himself out by undergoing surgery.

The loosehead tore an anterior cruciate ligament last month but had hoped that he could still play in the world cup which starts next month in New Zealand.

Robinson revealed on Monday on his Twitter account that he was “heading in for surgery tomorrow”.

“Pushed really hard to make it, but knee just isn’t right!! Very disheartening!!” he said.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is expected to name his 30 man Rugby World Cup squad on Thursday this week.
