Highlanders vs Brumbies Super Rugby preview

The Brumbies have won the last four clashes between them and the Highlanders and the last time the Highlanders hosted the Brumbies in Invercargill the Brumbies won 9-15 in 1997.

The Brumbies loss to the Waratahs last week has seen them drop down to 125/1 for this year’s Super Rugby title. So far this season they have played five and won just one. Worryingly three of those five matches have been at home in Canberra.

The Highlanders had the bye last weekend so they can be expected to start slowly in this match.

Colin Slade will be making his Highlanders debut in this match and has been named at 10 after recovering from an injury in the first of the Highlanders Super rugby warm ups.

The Brumbies have made some small tweaks to the team that lost to the Waratahs last week like moving Adam Ashley-Cooper to the wing and Matt Toomua to fullback.

On average the Highlanders are outscored 20-28 when these teams meet but when they meet in New Zealand the averages drop down to 20-19 in the Highlanders favour.

Overall the Highlanders have played the Brumbies 15 times and only won on 6 occasions and all 6 victories came in New Zealand.

The Bookies have given the the Brumbies a 6 point start – with a Bet 10 and Get 10 offer. We think the Brumbies are well off the pace this year and the Highlanders should win by 8.
