Cheetahs vs Bulls Super rugby preview

There will be no love lost in this match – that is for sure. The Bulls have a 100 per cent record against the Cheetahs in Super rugby. They have played five and won five.

Generally the victories are pretty big for the Bulls as well because on average the Bulls score 39 points against the Cheetahs who score 22 points on average in these matches.

Three of the five clashes between these teams have been in Bloemfontein and ironically this is where the three biggest victories have come for the Bulls. 34-51, 20-60 and 18-30.

On paper it looks like the Bulls have no problem “getting up” for playing the Cheetahs in Bloem and while they haven’t beaten the Bulls at Loftus they “get up” more for Loftus.

The Cheetahs problem in the expanded Super 15 Rugby tournament is their depth and it is already being tested as they were hit with injury after their opening loss to the Sharks.

However they have been given a big boost by the return of Juan Smith to the team. They need Smith as they were fairly poor last week especially in the scrums.

The Bulls meanwhile have named their team with minor changes as usual. Gary Botha has been replaced due to injury and a fit again Jaco Pretorius comes in for Stephan Dippenaar.

The Bulls showed that they will still be a force in 2011 and that they have lost little from last year even though they had a mild fright by the Lions last weekend.

Due to last week’s second half drop off when the Bulls failed to score any points the Cheetahs could feel the backlash.

The Bookies have given the Cheetahs a 12.5 point start which translates to a Bulls victory by 13 points and have an offer of Bet £ 10 and get £ 20 in bets. The Bulls should win this with relative ease so we think the Bulls will win by 18-20 points.
