Stormers name Grant on the bench for Lions

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has named Peter Grant on the bench for his team’s Super Rugby opening clash against the Lions.

Grant has just returned from Japan and has been playing regular rugby which arguably makes him more match fit than the rest of the Stormers squad but he is not as familiar with the Stormers game plan.

As Grant is on the bench Gary Van Aswegen is named at fly half while Jaque Fourie and Jean De Villiers are named in the centres. Juan de Jongh is named on the bench and it is believed that Coetzee plans to rotate the three Springbok centres throughout the season.

The forwards have a strong combination of Vermuelen, Louw, Burger and Bekker who will parter with youngster Rynhardt Elstadt.

Deon Fourie is named at hooker as Tiaan Liebenberg is out injured.
