Fiji ring the changes for Wales

Wales’ 2007 World cup nemesis Fiji have made wholesale changes for their international against Wales at Millennium Stadium on Friday.

There were only seven survivors from the side that started the 34-12 defeat to France in Nantes on Saturday, with Clermont-Auvergne winger Napolioni Nalaga one of those dropped from the matchday 22.

Fullback Josh Matavesi, center Gabirieli Lovobalavu and wingers Michael Tagicakibau and Vereniki Goneva came into the back division and forwards Campese Ma’afu, Vili Veikoso, Ifereimi Rawaqa and Malakai Ravulo were also recalled.

Center Seru Rabeni and lock Wame Lewaravu missed out after visa issues delayed them traveling from France.

Prop Graham Dewes, who scored the winning try against Wales in the group stage of the 2007 World Cup, was among the replacements.

The teams have also been named in the same group at next year’s World Cup in New Zealand.

Fiji: Josh Matavesi, Michael Tagicakibau, Albert Vulivuli, Gabirieli Lovobalavu, Vereniki Goneva; Seremaia Bai, Nemia Kenatale; Campese Ma’afu, Vili Veikoso, Deacon Manu (captain), Ifereimi Rawaqa, Jone Qovu, Semisi Saukawa, Malakai Ravulo, Sisa Koyamaibole.

Replacements: Talemaitoga Taupati, Graham Dewes, Seko Kalou, Akapusi Qera, Seveci Taka, Ropate Ratu, Taniela Rawaqa.
