Bulls and Boks lose Steenkamp for the season

Springbok and Bulls forward Gurthro Steenkamp will miss the rest of the Currie Cup season as well as the Springboks end of year year tour after breaking his arm.

Steenkamp starred for the Bulls in the Super 14 and shone for the Springboks in the TriNations but broke his arm yesterday in the Currie Cup playing against Western Province.

The Bulls won the match at Loftus Versfeld but now that they have lost Steenkamp the victory came at a price for not only the Bulls but also the Springboks.

“He broke one of the two pipes in his arm and we are waiting for news on the other one,” Bulls Team doctor Org Strauss said.

“I suspect it is broken as well,” he added.

The Springboks kick off their Grand Slam tour against Ireland in the Aviva Stadium on November the 6th before tackling Wales, Scotland and England.
