Leopards lose their captain for Currie Cup clash

The Platinum Leopards will be without their captain Palm Koch for Friday night’s Currie Cup match against Griquas in Kimberley.

The hard-working flanker will be replaced by Christo van Niekerk while centre Jovan Bowles will also start from the bench after some good performances.

He too has an injury niggle. No 8 Riaan Swanepoel will captain the side. Koch is replaced by Christo van Niekerk and Kempie Rautenbach comes in at centre, where he will be joined by the recalled Walter Venter at outside centre.

At flyhalf Cecil Dumond is replaced by Clayton Durand who will partner Under-21 scrumhalf Tiaan Dorfling.

The debutant stands in because of injuries to the other Leopards scrumhalves Michael Bondesio, Jean Tiedt and Theo van Wyk. Os van der Walt returns at tighthead and Victor Joubert is replaced by Koekies van Niekerk on the flank.
